I continue to work with my personal trainer, Lynn, and my friend, Debbie. Debbie is the school nurse at UMHB and we have been friends for several years now. She is the one who steered me to the personal trainer. We share a time slot with the trainer one day a week. Lynn has been so helpful and I can feel my muscles strengthening especially around my knees. I still need to work on my arms and shoulders. A personal trainer is definitely the way to go.
Bill and I made a quick trip to Dallas the last week of July. Bill had a meeting at the Baptist Standard office so we took that opportunity to return Ryrie
to Richard. She had been staying with us while Richard traveled to Cleveland and Atlanta on business. She is always fun to have around. We also did the last of our shopping at IKEA for the bathroom.
Moving on into August, I celebrated my birthday quietly. Bill took me to lunch and then we went to dinner with my mother. After dinner, my treat was to go to Michael’s and shop for beads. I am really enjoying the beading I’m doing. At the point most of it is very basic as I’m learning and practicing. I’m ready to start getting into some more advanced pieces. This is very relaxing and I could make a new necklace every day. But, really, I’m running out of places to store them and I have only so many times to wear them. I need to find an outlet for them, maybe eBay or craigslist. The pictures below give the newest ones I’ve done this summer.

The first week of August our church had Music Camp for the children. I was the “official” photographer. As I had done in Sports Camp earlier in the summer, I took pictures of the kids involved in all their activities and put together a power point presentation to be shown on Family Night.
One bit of good news for me this summer is that my allergist took me off of allergy injections. I went for my annual checkup and he said I have been on them for 7 years now and should be able to do without. Soooo, I finish the vial I have and then we will see what happens. Save a little money and some time…
This last weekend we spent shopping in College Station taking advantage of tax free shopping…
many more choices of places to shop than in Temple and a good opportunity to see Dee, Blake, and Sawyer. On Sunday we visited with Mom and went to lunch with her.
The house is a mess right now as we are remodeling our bathroom… painting, new floor, new shower door, new bathroom fixtures. Since the house was built in the late 80s, the bathroom was starting to look very tired and worn out and needed an update. We started 10 days ago and aren’t finished yet. Hopefully, everything will be in place by this weekend. Next project… new kitchen countertops!
This now brings you up to date on our summer happenings. UMHB fall session is right around the corner and brings with it a busy fall schedule for us. Bill goes back to 5 o’clocks this week. The students move in on Saturday and start classes next week and then it’s time for my favorite part… football! UMHB is ranked 4th in the nation in the preseason rankings.
